Visitor Visa
(Subclass 600)
The visitor visa (subclass 600) allows you to visit Australia for tourism, business, or to visit family or friends for up to 12 months.
Visitor Visa stream
Visitor visa applications can be submitted under 5 different streams and each stream has diefferent criteria to be satisfied.
1. Tourist Stream
This visa stream lets you visit Australia as tourist, to see family and friends for purposes other than business and medical treatment. You must be a genuine visitor, have enough funds to support your visit and meet health and character requirements to be eligible for this stream.
2. Sponsored Family stream
This visa stream lets people who are sponsored, usually by a family member, come to Australia to visit their family members. It has criteria same as tourist stream, additionally you must be sponsor by a family member who is Australian citizen or PR.
3. Business Visitor Stream
This visa stream lets you visit Australia for business reasons. For example, to make general business or employment enquiries, negotiate contracts, take part in a conference or trade fair. To be eligible under this stream, you must have enough funds to support yourself for the visit, be a genuine visitor, meet health and character requirements and intend to perform business activities during your visit to Australia.
Genuine Visitor Criteria
Genuine Visitor criteria common criteria to be satisfied irrespective of stream you are applying for. Following factors are considered while assessing this criteria:

An applicant's history of complying with previous visa conditions and their travel history to Australia can help immigration officials assess whether the applicant is likely to stay in Australia temporarily.

If there is any evidence of applicants intention to work or study during their stay in Australia.

An applicants history of international travel, in particular compliant travel to other developed countries;.

An applicants financial and employment circumstances.

An applicants strong ties to their home country.

The applicant's history of complying with previous visa conditions, their travel history to Australia, and their reasons for visiting Australia are all factors that immigration officials consider when deciding whether to grant a visa.

Immigration officials will consider the applicant's length of stay in Australia and their intention to stay temporarily.

Adequate Funds to support themselves
The amount of funds that an applicant needs to demonstrate in order to have adequate means of support will vary depending on the applicant's individual circumstances. However, decision makers will generally consider the following factors:

The applicant's ties to their home country
By considering these factors, decision makers can assess whether an applicant is likely to be able to support themselves financially during their stay in Australia.
Banks statements, business tax records, term deposits, offers of support by relatives or friends in Australia are usually accepted as an evidence of adequate funds.
