This is a temporary visa, that lets parents to visit Australia and stay for 3 or 5 years.

This visa is not an alternative to permanent parent visas. However, this visa can be granted to visit Australia temporarily, while application for permanent visa is being processed.

Basic Eligibility

​1.  You must have an approved Parent Sponsor to apply for this visa.

Your child in Australia must make application to become a parent sponsor, and application must be approved. Visa application must be submitted within 6 months of getting approval.

2.  You must have sufficient funds to meet the costs and expenses of your intended stay in Australia.

This criteria is usually considered satisfied with applicant having an approved sponsor.

3. You must have adequate arrangements for health insurance for your intended stay in Australia.

You need to provide the evidence of the health insurance policy from an Australian Health Insurance provider for the duration of your intended stay in Australia.

4. You genuinely intends to stay Australia temporarily.

This criterion is intended to make it clear that the Subclass 870 visa is a temporary visa and does not provide a pathway to permanent residence. Generally, personal circumstances, immigration history, inconsistencies in the information provided in the visa application or if it appears that you have used other visas to maintain long term residence in Australia are considered while making application decision.

5. You does not have any outstanding pubic health debt.

If the you had spent time in Australia previously, and incurred an outstanding public health debt during that time and has not paid the debt in full or made appropriate arrangements for the repayment of such a debt, this criteria is not considered satisfied.

6. You must meet health and character requirement.

You will be required to undergo medical assessment and no health waiver is available for this visa subclass. Also, character requirement should be met in order to visa be granted.
